A Psalm a Day: Day 4

We have some more participants in the Psalm a Day challenge!

 Oh, how He loves me so,

He loves me in the worst of storms,

He loves me when I'm afraid, 

or even when I'm mad at Him,

He takes my hand, and last of all, 

I love him.

There is an old poem

Well known to many

Framed on walls, in simple homes

And this verse

"Footprints"

Gives me pause

Is it true God walks with us

And carries us sometimes?

Now i believe He really does,

Because of what I've seen

He has walked by me,

and held my hand

in times of trial and pain

And since I know

That He has been, and always will be with me

I trust that He will carry me

When I can't go on much further

The walk of faith

That I will take

It won't be short or easy

But how I know

I'm not alone,

I walk with my friend Jesus.

Sinners, sinners, everywhere,

We would be dead without God's tender care

Only because of God's infinite love,

Do we have a chance to go to heaven above

Through a violent storm

God keeps alive so we don't have to mourn.

The Lord's love sent His only Son

His plan was perfectly done

God's love and tender care

Is what keeps us from falling into Satan's snare.

The Athiest and the Shark

Hey! I know I never really post on here, (sorry!) but this was just too funny!

An atheist was swimming in the ocean, just a short distance from his boat, when he spotted a shark coming toward him. He cried out, "Oh, God, please save me!"

All at once, time seemed frozen, and a light from heaven shone down. And God said, "You've always denied my existence, and now you want me to save you?"

"That's true, God, but what about the shark? Can't you make him believe in you?"

"It is as you wish," said God.

And just as quickly, time was unfrozen, and the man was swimming for his life once again, feeling the shark preparing to take the first bite out of him.

All at once, the shark stopped, closed his eyes, bowed his huge head, and spoke, "Thank you, Lord, for this food I'm about to receive!"

A Psalm a Day: Day 3

You created nature to enjoy with us
Its beauty and splendor, a must.

Even in fall, when the leaves are dying
They look like flaming tears, like the trees are crying

The crunch of the leaves under my feet,
Send me to a secret place were You and I will meet.

The birds do not call only for a mate
They praise Your beautiful name, because You create

Your handy work is in the small things,
In the mushrooms, the moss, Your name rings.

In the huge things, Your massive creations,
The jagged peaks, the tree clad hills, You make wonderful sensations.

All the animals know you are the true God,
Yet humans can't learn quickly, sometimes they need a rod.

When the wind flows through the trees, I seem to here You whisper
And Your loving image and caring heart becomes crisper.

Kitty Kitty

Kitty kitty on the prowl

Sees a dog but doesn't yowl

Kitty kitty must hunt for food

But to her cat feed she is glued

"Are us cats invisible?"

-kitty asks us, but we look quizzical 

Kitty thinks she is so sly;

Thinks we don't see her go on by

"Let me in!"

Kitty demands with a grin

But then she starts to whine & pout 

Because she wants to go right back out. 

Kitty kitty is befriended 

And so our family is rather blended

Kitty kitty on my chest

Go to sleep is what she does best

"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet,
And a Light unto my path." 
 Psalm 119:105



With happiness, I delve into God's word,
 It makes me feel as if I have wings like a bird

God's inspired scriptures fill the hole in my heart
Bringing it together, and keeping it from breaking apart

Jesus's commands make my course of action clear,
When making big choices, I do not have to fear

It seems life has caught me in a snare;
School work is like a hungry bear

But I simply study God's Holy Bible
And it gives peace without rival

You will be my general and chief.
Only in You will i believe.

God, You are my only idol,
I will obey no one but you.

With Your mighty wisdom,
You will command Your forces.

I have joined Your army,
Here I wait Your next command

Only with You will i stand.
To everyone else, my allegiance is banned.

A Psalm a Day: Introduction

I was reading Psalms 101 (it's my favorite Biblical psalm, i suggest you read it) and found that Psalms 101-110 is a giant poem called a chiasm (ki-as-um). That means the first topic in the first line of the poem is reflected in the last line of the poem, the second topic in the second line is synonymously reflected in the second-to-last line of the poem, and so on and so on.

In this giant chiasm, Psalms 101 and 110 are royal psalms, 102 and 109 are individual prayers, 103 and 108 praise God, 104 and 107 are about the Creator who cares, and 105 and 106 recount Israel's history.

After reading this, i decided to make my own chiasm. I'm going to write one poem every day for ten days, in chiastic structure.

If any of you guys feel like following along, please do. These are my subjects. You can make your own subjects or use mine, i don't really care.

Day 1 and 10 - Promising Allegiance to God
Day 2 and 9 - Studying God's Word
Day 3 and 8 - God's Beautiful Creation
Day 4 and 7 - God's Love and Tender Care
Day 5 and 6 - Singular Chiasms with one line that reflects each day's topic.

I'll be praying for God's inspiration when I start writing the first one tomorrow!
