Alright everyone, pull out your Bibles and read Luke 15:1-7. Read carefully. No really, read the verses or this post won't make any sense.
If you noticed in verse 1 that all the "tax collectors and sinners drew near." Jesus loved preaching to the people who needed his love, not the ones that were already following His commandments. The Pharisees complained about this because they where so "holy" that they didn't even want to touch the "unholy" ones around them.
In my Bible (Andrews Study Bible, NKJV), it doesn't say that the Shepard gently brought all His other sheep back to the stable, but no, as soon as He new one of His sheep was missing, He left the 99 in the wilderness and went to look for the missing one. Jesus will give so much to save one sinner. What a beautiful God we have.
Now let's read down through verses 8-10. As most Christians know, the Widow represents Christ and the coins represent the entire human race. Coins are idle, unable to move, unless someone picks them up and decides to move them. Are not we completely spiritually idle? We can't make any spiritual progress towards God without Jesus picking us up and moving us closer to His Father. We can't return to the Widow's coin pouch from the dusty sinful corner of the room without the Widow picking us up and moving us.
So as you finish reading this, may these thoughts stay in your mind today and aid in your walk to God.
